Shibuya Art Festival 2026 to feature technology and public art
The 18th Shibuya Art Festival, titled “SHIBUYA ART SCRAMBLE,” is scheduled to take place from November 2 to November 8, 2026. The event will utilize various commercial facilities and public spaces across Shibuya, including Shibuya Hikarie, Miyashita Park, Shibuya Sakura Stage, and Yoyogi Park BE STAGE.
Key programs include a mission rally in collaboration with baton, the company behind QuizKnock, where participants use a web app to complete challenges at eight urban locations. Another highlight is the “Sendan PROJECT @ Shibuya” by Karcher Japan, which uses high-pressure washers to create reverse graffiti on city walls.
Technological integrations include “SHIBUYA LIGHT PLAY” at Yoyogi Park, which uses sensing technology and projection mapping to turn human movement into real-time art. Other activities range from workshops and designer markets to exhibitions featuring contemporary female artists and academic-themed art displays.
