Shibuya implements strict security for Saturday Halloween
Authorities in Shibuya, Tokyo, have implemented heavy security measures and traffic restrictions ahead of Halloween, which falls on a Saturday for the first time in six years. Hundreds of police officers have been deployed to manage crowds and ensure public safety.
To prevent congestion and nuisance behavior, officials have fenced off the Hachiko statue area and implemented road closures between the Shibuya Station scramble crossing and the Miyamasuzaka-shita intersection. Shibuya Ward has adopted the slogan “GOODBYE BAD HALLOWEEN” and allocated 74 million yen toward safety initiatives.
Local measures include requests for nearby convenience stores to refrain from selling alcohol until the early morning of November 1. Additionally, the ward has begun collecting 2,000 yen fines for littering to discourage public waste. Police patrols are expected to be intensified throughout the holiday period.
