Shibuya to host inclusive education and art initiatives
Various initiatives focused on inclusive learning and accessibility for children with diverse needs are scheduled to take place in Shibuya, Tokyo.
NPO Minna no Code will host a symposium at the Google Shibuya office on October 10. The event, titled ‘Universal Design for Learning x Technology for Child-Centered Learning,’ will explore how generative AI and ‘vibe coding’ can support diverse educational needs. The program includes a keynote speech by Professor Maya Israel from the University of Florida, workshops on creating original teaching materials, and panel discussions involving special education and ICT experts.
Additionally, the Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery will launch the ‘Koen’ program starting October 10. Developed in collaboration with Studio oowa, this project aims to make art more accessible to children with intellectual disabilities. The installation creates a sensory-friendly space designed to accommodate individual characteristics, such as specific tactile or visual preferences. The program will feature lectures, theatrical performances, and concerts to foster interaction between children with and without disabilities.
