Shigeru Miyamoto names favorite Mario titles
Nintendo veteran Shigeru Miyamoto explained which Mario games have impressed him most. He said Super Mario World gave him a sense of mastering the two‑dimensional Mario world, while Super Mario 64 reminded him of his childhood. Miyamoto described 2D Mario as feeling like “drawing manga” and 3D Mario as bringing him back to “puppet theater,” referencing the NHK puppet shows he loved as a child and his early dream of becoming a puppet maker.
Miyamoto added that Nintendo has likely exhausted possibilities for the series on the Switch and hinted at the challenge of creating a new Mario game for the upcoming Switch 2.
