Shilin driver arrested for drug-impaired driving after hitting traffic signal

A man surnamed Lin was arrested for drug-impaired driving after crashing his car into a traffic signal pole in the Shilin District of Taipei on October 11.

Following the collision at the intersection of Yanping North Road Section 6 and Tonghexi Street Section 2, Lin remained in his vehicle for an extended period. Concerned bystanders approached the car to check on his welfare, with some even using fire extinguishers to prevent potential fires. After inspecting his vehicle, Lin left the scene on foot.

Approximately two hours later, Lin arrived at the Shezi Police Station to report the incident. Police conducted sobriety and drug tests, which revealed a positive reaction for amphetamines. Although no illegal substances were found in the vehicle, Lin is being investigated for public danger crimes.
