Shillong cultural initiatives include new EP release and library renovations

In Shillong, the folk-fusion band Da-La-Riti has released a new EP titled ‘Her Sha Ka Thong’, aimed at preserving and promoting Khasi musical heritage. The release event featured local officials and music icons, highlighting the band's commitment to sustaining Khasi cultural identity. During the event, the artist-owned platform Goongoonalo also debuted, offering music distribution, rights management, and analytics to help independent artists, including those from Meghalaya, retain ownership of their work.

Simultaneously, the Department of Arts and Culture in Shillong has undertaken renovation work at the State Central Library. These improvements to the workspace and facilities are being prepared ahead of an upcoming inauguration by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. Officials noted that the upgrades aim to enhance the library as a public space for students and readers, ensuring the facility is clean and well-maintained for the community.
