Shillong Sports Association unveils SSA Champions Cup 2026

The Shillong Sports Association (SSA) has unveiled the trophy for the second edition of the SSA Champions Cup, scheduled to begin on November 3, 2026. The tournament will feature 10 clubs, comprising the champions and runners-up from the five divisions of the SSA men’s football structure.

To support the participating teams, the SSA provided financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to each club. The competition will follow a league-cum-knockout format, with the final expected in early December. To ensure competitive balance, clubs from the Second, Third, and Fourth Divisions are permitted to recruit up to five players on loan from other local clubs, while Shillong Premier League and First Division teams must use registered players.

The participating teams include Mawlai and Shillong Lajong (SPL), Mawkhar and Nongkrem (First Division), Mawpat and Sohryngkham (Second Division), Sanmer and Lamlynti (Third Division), and Mawpdang and Sei La Sap FCC (Fourth Division). Defending champions Nongkseh will not participate this year after finishing third in the SPL.
