Shimizu S-Pulse defeats FC Osaka to advance in Emperor's Cup
Shimizu S-Pulse advanced to the third round of the Emperor's Cup following a 2-1 victory over J3 side FC Osaka in extra time at Izu Stadium.
FC Osaka took an early lead in the 17th minute through Ryunosuke Sugawara. Shimizu responded in the 62nd minute when Oh Se-hun scored his first official goal of the season to equalize. The match remained tied through regulation, but Kai Matsuzaki secured the win for Shimizu in the 93rd minute with a long-range strike from outside the penalty area.
Shimizu manager Takayuki Yoshida praised Matsuzaki's performance, noting his ability to create space and engage in offensive play. Matsuzaki, who has seen limited playing time in league matches this season, expressed his desire to use this performance to earn more opportunities in the J1 League.
