Shimla: 20-month-old girl injured in stray dog attack

A 20-month-old girl was severely injured in a stray dog attack in the Shankli area of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Two stray dogs reportedly attacked the child outside her home, dragging her approximately 20 to 30 meters and causing extensive injuries to her head, neck, chest, abdomen, and limbs.

The child's mother and local residents intervened after hearing screams, managing to drive the dogs away and rescue the girl. She was rushed to IGMC Shimla, where she required approximately 20 stitches to treat her wounds. While the child survived, the incident has caused significant fear among local residents.

In response to the attack, the Mayor suggested moving dangerous dogs to the Tutikandi dog huts. The victim's family, who traveled from Dehradun, has called on the administration to take decisive action to remove dangerous stray dogs from the area to prevent future occurrences.
