Shimmer Beauty Bar in Sidney seeks to rebuild after vehicle crash

Owners of Shimmer Beauty Bar in downtown Sidney are working to restore their business following a vehicle accident on July 18. A driver accidentally backed a vehicle through the spa’s wall during a busy period, causing significant damage to the ceiling, floor, pedicure chairs, and various pieces of equipment.

While no injuries were reported, the crash caused structural issues that prevented staff from accessing the shop until August 4. The incident also damaged a local cannery mural painted by artist Ice Bear in 1998. The future of the mural's restoration remains uncertain as the owners await insurance assessments.

Owners Jessica and Jennifer Calder noted that while the business faces an uncertain reopening timeline due to permit and redevelopment requirements, they have received significant support from the local community.
