Shimron Hetmyer sets T20I run out record in Lucknow

West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer has set an unwanted record for being the most run out player in T20 International cricket during the first match of a five-match series against India in Lucknow. During the match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Hetmyer was run out following a misunderstanding while attempting a single, a dismissal facilitated by a throw from Indian captain Shreyas Iyer.

Hetmyer scored only 5 runs before his dismissal. He now leads a list of West Indian players most frequently run out in the format, followed by Andre Fletcher.

In the same match, Indian bowler Axar Patel reached third place for the most maiden overs in T20 International history with 6, trailing Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The match also marked the T20 debut of Naman Dheer for India and the 100th T20I appearance for West Indies' Akeal Hosein.
