Shin Miidera emerges as Yokohama F. Marinos star
Shin Miidera, a 16-year-old midfielder for Yokohama F. Marinos, has emerged as a significant new talent in the J1 League. After signing a professional contract in April, Miidera scored in the opening match against Kashima Antlers, making him the second-youngest goalscorer in J1 history at 16 years, 4 months, and 5 days.
Former Japan national team forward Takayuki Morimoto compared Miidera's impact to that of Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, noting that Miidera plays with the maturity of a veteran rather than a teenager.
Miidera has expressed his ambition to become a versatile all-rounder, citing Manchester City's Phil Foden and Barcelona's Raphinha as his primary inspirations. He aims to develop the ability to produce consistent results regardless of his position on the pitch, whether on the left, right, or center.
