Shinhan Financial Group expands partnership with Vietnam's Vingroup
Shinhan Financial Group has announced an expansion of its strategic partnership with Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate. Building on their existing cooperation in automotive finance, the two entities plan to broaden their collaboration into capital markets, insurance, and digital services.
Previously, Shinhan Vietnam Bank provided cumulative automobile loans totaling $100 million for customers of VinFast, Vingroup’s electric vehicle manufacturer, starting in 2024. Additionally, Shinhan Vietnam Finance provided approximately 15 billion won in installment financing for 14,000 VinFast motorcycles in the first half of this year.
Moving forward, Shinhan Investment & Securities Vietnam will explore capital market opportunities, including fund procurement, equity investment, and M&A. The firm has also been appointed as the sole financial arranger for Vingroup’s first ‘Arirang Bond’ (Korean won-denominated bond), aiming for issuance in the fourth quarter. Shinhan Investment & Securities will also participate as a joint lead manager with a direct investment of 40 billion won.
Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin Ok-dong stated that Vietnam serves as a major global business hub for the group and emphasized the intent to create new business opportunities by expanding cooperation into diverse sectors based on their established transaction experience.
