Shinhan Investment Securities invests in Digital Asset's Canton Network blockchain
Shinhan Investment Securities announced participation in a $355 million funding round for Digital Asset, the operator of the Canton Network, a privacy‑focused public Layer‑1 blockchain designed for institutional finance. The investment was made alongside Shinhan Venture Investment and was part of a round led by Andreessen Horowitz’s a16z crypto fund.
The move is intended to accelerate Shinhan Financial Group’s global digital‑asset strategy, provide Korean institutional investors with a compliant infrastructure for digital‑asset and tokenisation services, and expand collaboration with the Canton Network ecosystem. Digital Asset co‑founder and CEO Yuval Rooz said the investment marks an important milestone for expanding the network in Asia, while a Shinhan spokesperson highlighted the importance of privacy, compliance and interoperability for regulated financial institutions.
Shinhan also noted ongoing cooperation with Digital Asset, including a memorandum of understanding signed earlier to explore joint research, regulatory training and the overseas rollout of digital‑finance products.
