Shinhan Securities partners with UMI Ventures for Korea-Japan deep tech fund
Shinhan Securities has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese venture capital firm UMI Ventures to establish a cross-border venture fund targeting deep tech companies in South Korea and Japan.
The fund will focus on high-barrier sectors including semiconductors, robotics, aerospace, and defense. The partnership aims to identify promising technology firms in both nations and support their mutual market entry. Shinhan Securities will leverage its domestic investment network and corporate finance capabilities, while UMI Ventures will utilize its specialized network in Japanese materials, components, and equipment manufacturing.
Following a joint deep tech conference held in Tokyo last month, the two firms plan to host another conference in South Korea this October to introduce the Japanese deep tech market and promising companies to local investors.
