Shinji clarifies dental treatment amid jaw surgery rumors

Shinji, a member of the South Korean music group Koyote, has addressed public speculation regarding rumors that she underwent orthognathic (jaw) surgery. In a video posted to her YouTube channel, she clarified that her changing facial appearance is the result of dental prosthodontic treatment rather than bone surgery.

Shinji explained that she has been dealing with an ‘open bite’ condition, where the upper and lower teeth do not meet properly when the mouth is closed. This condition, caused by jaw joint issues, had made singing difficult. She noted that previous attempts to adjust her molar height to prevent her jaw from receding had caused aesthetic concerns, leading her to seek professional dental correction to adjust the bite and create new teeth.

To dispel rumors of surgery or surgical side effects, Shinji shared X-ray images showing no evidence of bone manipulation. She attributed the shift in her appearance from a ‘cute’ to a more ‘mature’ image to the dental corrections, natural aging, and weight loss.
