Shinji Kagawa apologizes after Cerezo Osaka's 1-6 loss to Sanfrecce Hiroshima
Cerezo Osaka midfielder Shinji Kagawa issued a public apology to supporters following a heavy 1-6 defeat against Sanfrecce Hiroshima in a J1 League match on September 12.
Kagawa expressed deep regret on social media, stating that such a loss against a team Cerezo has historically struggled against over the last five years is “unacceptable.” He emphasized that while words are easy, the team would spend the upcoming week confronting the result to prepare for their next match.
Sanfrecce Hiroshima dominated the match, scoring three goals in each half. Cerezo Osaka manager Pablo Mačín attributed the loss to failures in defensive transitions and risk management. Cerezo Osaka's next fixture is an away match against V-Varen Nagasaki on September 19.
