Shinjuku Anomaly horror game set for Steam release

AMATA Games has announced that its short horror visual novel, ‘Shinjuku Anomaly’ (Shinjuku Ihen), is scheduled for release on Steam on September 30, 2026. The game is priced at 500 yen.

Set in the nighttime streets of Shinjuku, players take on the role of a part-time worker tasked with photographing supernatural entities. The gameplay involves navigating the city and deciding how close to approach these apparitions; players must find an appropriate distance to capture photos without getting too close. The title features multiple endings based on player choices.

The loud girl group ‘yamikumo’ will provide the theme song, ‘Hyakki Yako,’ which will be used in the game’s ending and trailer. A collaborative lyric music video featuring the group members as supernatural entities has also been released.
