Shinsegae DF deploys Vision AI safety system at duty free and logistics sites
Shinsegae DF has launched a vision AI-based safety management system at its Shinsegae Duty Free Myeongdong store and the Incheon Airport Integrated Logistics Center. The system utilizes a combination of Vision AI and Vision Language Models (VLM) to analyze video footage in real time. While Vision AI detects anomalies such as customers falling or dangerous behaviors, the VLM performs cross-verification by analyzing the context of the actions to reduce false alarms and ensure rapid response to genuine emergencies.
At the Myeongdong store, the system is tailored to handle high volumes of tourists and luggage. It can detect risks such as riding escalators in the wrong direction, strollers entering restricted areas, or passengers not holding handrails, subsequently triggering automated voice guidance and floor warning lights. It also monitors crowd density to manage movement in entrances and elevator halls.
At the integrated logistics center, the technology focuses on worker safety by monitoring compliance with two-person operation rules for forklifts and detecting hazardous vehicle movements. This initiative follows previous safety measures by the company, including the S-DRI inspection system and smart electrical fire prevention systems.
