Japanese baseball updates: Fujinami, Kishida, and prospect Okada
In recent farm league action, DeNA pitcher Shintaro Fujinami started against the Yomiuri Giants on September 27, pitching three innings and allowing five runs off eight hits. Despite being outside of the team's plans for the next season, Fujinami recorded two strikeouts and reached a top speed of 154 km/h before being removed from the game.
In the same matchup, Yomiuri Giants catcher Yukinori Kishida contributed to a 12-5 victory. Entering the game as a substitute in the sixth inning, Kishida hit a timely RBI double in the seventh inning to extend the team's lead.
Meanwhile, Meiji University infielder Keigo Okada is drawing significant attention from NPB scouts ahead of the October draft. Known for exceptional speed, Okada previously recorded a 50-meter sprint time of 5.69 seconds. Scouts from both DeNA and the Giants have highlighted his potential as a future stolen base leader and a player capable of disrupting defenses.
