ShinyHunters claims massive data breach of FBI personnel

The cybercrime group ShinyHunters claims to have breached FBI systems, allegedly stealing two to three terabytes of sensitive data. The group asserts they accessed the agency’s job application website, potentially exploiting Oracle’s Peoplesoft platform, to compromise the personal information of approximately 38,000 individuals, including active agents, former employees, and job applicants.

According to reports, the stolen data includes names, roles, badge numbers, home addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and details regarding the spouses of FBI personnel. To demonstrate the breach, the group provided ‘proof of life’ to 404 Media, including screenshots of a vandalized webpage styled as a law enforcement seizure notice.

Experts suggest the attack may be retaliation for an FBI public service announcement issued in May 2026. The FBI is currently investigating the incident and reportedly terminated multiple networks to mitigate the threat. The breach carries significant implications for national security, counterintelligence, and the safety of personnel and their families.
