Shirin David reacts to witnessing Paris protests

German rapper Shirin David has shared her impressions of the ongoing protests in Paris after witnessing them firsthand while visiting the city with her sister, Pati Valpati. In social media posts, David described the atmosphere as ‘iconic’ and ‘very moving,’ though she explicitly distanced herself from the resulting violence and destruction, stating, ‘I by no means support the many devastations.’

The rapper reported seeing masked youths fleeing from law enforcement, who utilized shields and tear gas during confrontations. David and her sister remained uninjured and have since returned to Berlin.

The protests in France, which have seen significant participation from young people, initially began as a movement against conditions in the education system. The unrest has since expanded to include grievances regarding the rising cost of living and the policies of President Emmanuel Macron.
