Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has publicly defended new co-host Josh Widdicombe following criticism from viewers regarding his presenting style. Ballas described Widdicombe as a “gentleman” with a good sense of humor and stated he is “brilliant at his job.”

Widdicombe joined the BBC flagship program as part of a new presenting trio alongside Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe. This lineup follows the departures of long-standing presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. Ballas noted that the revamped hosting team has provided the long-running series with a “fresh” feel.

The criticism toward Widdicombe intensified following a mistake during a live broadcast in late September. Despite the backlash, Ballas expressed support for the new casting, noting that the team is finding its rhythm.
