Shiromani Akali Dal Demands CBI Probe into Exam Leaks and Calls for Reopening of Kartarpur Corridor

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders, headed by President Sukhbir Badal, met Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and submitted two memoranda. They asked for a high‑level judicial inquiry into a police lathi‑charge on Scheduled Caste women and sanitation workers in Barnala, and demanded a CBI investigation into alleged leaks of ten examination papers that affected roughly one million students, alleging involvement of senior state officials.

Senior SAD figure Bikram Singh Majithia urged the Government of India to reopen the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, calling it a “corridor of peace and brotherhood” essential to Sikh devotees worldwide. He argued that the closure should be viewed as a religious issue, not a political or trade matter, and emphasized its spiritual significance for pilgrims seeking blessings at the shrine of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
