Panjab University syllabus change opposed by Akali Dal

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has expressed opposition to the removal of four papers regarding Punjab's history from the postgraduate history syllabus at Panjab University in Chandigarh. Senior Akali leader Daljit Singh Cheema stated that the removed papers covered the history of the state from the 15th century through the 20th century.

Cheema reported that after raising the issue with the university's Vice-Chancellor and the Head of the Department of History, both officials provided assurances that the decision would be reversed and the original syllabus would be restored. The party emphasized that Punjab's history is a vital part of academic study and carries significant cultural and historical sensitivity.
