Shiromani Akali Dal targets Punjab government over corruption and unrest

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has intensified its political campaign in Punjab, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government with allegations of corruption and threats to regional stability.

SAD leaders accused the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) of being a “den of corruption.” The party claimed that remarks made by AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang served as an admission of guilt regarding these issues. SAD further alleged that an “outsider” is influencing contracts and transactions within the system to fund personal interests.

In a separate address during the “Punjab Bachao” campaign, SAD President Sukhbir Badal warned that elements responsible for the unrest in Punjab during the 1980s have become active again. Badal urged citizens to unite against these forces, claiming they aim to destroy the state's peace and eliminate SAD as a regional political entity. He also criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and questioned the credibility of jailed MP Amritpal Singh.
