Shiseido Japan updates Kakehashi app with new return management features

Shiseido Japan has introduced a new “Return Collection Reservation” function to its Kakehashi app, a digital tool designed to streamline back-office operations for cosmetics specialty stores. The update, which began nationwide operation in October 2026, aims to reduce administrative workloads and optimize logistics.

The new feature allows store staff to scan product barcodes to automatically generate return lists, including quantities and amounts. These requests are instantly shared with Shiseido Japan sales representatives for in-app approval, replacing traditional communication methods like phone calls and emails. Additionally, for eligible areas, the app can automatically handle collection requests with delivery providers, eliminating the need for separate logistics arrangements.

Developed in 2024, Kakehashi is a web-browser application that functions on smartphones and tablets without requiring specialized hardware. It was created to address long-standing inefficiencies caused by manual paper-based processes, such as visual inspections and physical filing. The initiative received the “Excellent Logistics Improvement Award” at the 2025 All Japan Logistics Improvement Case Study Convention for its practical approach to digital transformation in the retail and logistics sectors.
