Shitalakshya River drowning claims three lives in Narsingdi

Three people have died after drowning in the Shitalakshya River in the Shibpur area of Narsingdi. The victims, identified as Md. Obaidullah (38), his sister-in-law Mosammat Shanta (16), and Sourav (20), were recovered by Fire Service divers on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the group went swimming in the river while visiting relatives. Shanta reportedly went missing first, prompting Obaidullah and another relative, Shanta, to enter the water to save her. Both were swept away by the current, and Sourav also disappeared while attempting a rescue.

While three bodies have been recovered, one individual, Md. Shanta (24), remains missing. Divers continue search operations in the river despite strong currents.
