Shiv Sena MP Blames BJP for Undermining West Bengal's TMC
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is attempting to weaken the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal. He linked the alleged strategy to recent reports that about 20 TMC MPs wrote to the Lok Sabha Speaker, suggesting coordinated defections. Sawant argued that such moves cannot occur without support from powerful quarters, accusing the BJP of encouraging opposition members to leave their parties. He warned that the BJP is trying to isolate the TMC, saying, “Now they want to strangulate TMC, and hence nobody can stand in front of them.” Sawant also referenced West Bengal’s opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, noting Adhikari’s past affiliation with the TMC and past accusations of corruption made by the Prime Minister. The remarks came amid broader political discussions ahead of upcoming elections.
