Shiv Sena suspends seven leaders in Palghar over hospital assault
Shiv Sena has suspended seven office bearers in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, including the district president, following an alleged assault on medical staff at Relief Hospital. The suspensions were ordered by party chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde due to “alleged indiscipline.”
The incident occurred after five participants, known as Govindas, sustained injuries during a Dahi Handi event and were admitted to the hospital for observation. According to Dr. Vishal Kodgirkar, the Director of Relief Hospital, associates of the injured individuals arrived at the facility and questioned the necessity of the admissions. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation involving a female doctor and a male receptionist.
Police have registered a case against 17 individuals, including Shiv Sena district president Kundan Sankhe and the son of MLA Rajendra Gavit, in connection with the assault.
