Shiv Sena (UBT) calls for inevitable regime change in India
The Shiv Sena (UBT) party has asserted that a ‘regime change’ is an inevitable and natural part of the democratic process. In an editorial published in the party’s mouthpiece, Saamana, the group claimed that while a political shift occurred during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others have maintained power by manipulating Election Commissioners, specifically naming Gyanesh Kumar.
The party stated that the current administration’s opposition to the ‘Tiranga (Tricolour) movement’ has accelerated the momentum for political transition. Shiv Sena (UBT) argued that the rule of those who oppose hoisting the national flag must be overthrown to achieve this change, describing the current leadership as a ‘tyrannical regime’ that has been shaken by public sentiment.
Defending the push for transition, the editorial drew comparisons to historical Indian political realignments, such as those during the Emergency. The party criticized leaders like Modi and Devendra Fadnavis for perceiving peaceful democratic agitations as anarchy, while noting that previous political shifts in India were achieved through similar movements.
