Shiv Sena (UBT) criticizes Mahayuti government's farmer relief

The Shiv Sena (UBT) has criticized the Mahayuti government, led by Devendra Fadnavis, over its recent announcement of festive financial assistance. The package includes Rs 5,000 for farmers and Rs 2,000 for Anganwadi workers, which the opposition party labeled an “insult” to the working class.

In an editorial published in the party mouthpiece ‘Samaana’, the Thackeray camp argued that the aid is insufficient given soaring inflation and widespread drought affecting over 300 talukas in the state. The editorial further claimed that the Rs 5,000 payment is not a special grant but rather an advance of funds expected from the Central government, accusing the administration of rebranding an advance as a benevolent “Diwali gift” for political credit.
