Shivam Shankar’s short film ‘Bhed, Bakri, Bhoot’ to premiere on YouTube

Filmmakers Abhishek Chaubey and Navdeep Singh will present the short film ‘Bhed, Bakri, Bhoot’, directed and produced by Shivam Shankar. The film is scheduled for a global premiere on September 24 via the YouTube channel ‘Oh Short Flips’, which is curated by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

The narrative follows a disgruntled brass band musician who writes a message on a public toilet wall, triggering a chain reaction of graffiti from various strangers. The accumulation of messages continues until the physical structure of the restroom begins to crumble, eventually drawing the attention of municipal officials. Shankar described the project as an attempt to observe Indian society and everyday politics through an unfiltered, raw lens.

Before its digital release, the film gained recognition on the international festival circuit, screening at events such as the Roma Short Film Festival, Tokyo International Short Film Festival, and the Yellowstone International Film Festival. It has received several accolades, including best short film honors at IFFSA Toronto and best editing at the Tokyo International Short Film Festival.
