Shivraj Singh Chauhan reviews Dewas development projects, announces farmer and women initiatives

Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited Dewas district in Madhya Pradesh on 1 August to review ongoing development works. He announced a detailed agricultural roadmap aimed at raising farmer incomes, and a target to increase the number of lakh‑pati households from about 35,000 to 72,000.

The minister said women will be linked to self‑help groups, receive skill‑training and easier bank loans for self‑employment. Ongoing irrigation schemes, including the Chipaner and Ma Rewa lift projects, and drinking‑water projects were examined, with instructions to address delays. After forest clearance, a large irrigation project will start soon. Chauhan also pledged a three‑month drive to ensure all eligible seniors receive Ayushman Bharat health cards and to make Dewas TB‑free and malnutrition‑free through targeted campaigns. Skill development and employment generation for youth were highlighted as priorities.
