Shivraj Singh Chouhan to lead ‘Sapt Dhara of Shakti’ pledge

Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will administer a pledge to officials from both ministries at the Pusa campus in New Delhi on August 18. The ceremony follows the ‘Sapt Dhara of Shakti’ initiative introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day address.

The program aims to establish an actionable roadmap for agriculture and rural development to support the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision by 2047. Key focus areas include strengthening food production, promoting food processing, and expanding access to global markets. The initiative also emphasizes providing subsidized fertilizers to farmers despite global uncertainties.

A major component of the meeting will be the expansion of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ program. While 30 million rural women have already achieved this status, the government has set a new target to increase that number to 60 million. The event will include participation from progressive farmers, agricultural exporters, and food processors.
