Shkodër cultural figures Naile Hoxha and Anton Çefa honored

The cultural legacies of Shkodër-born figures Naile Hoxha and Anton Çefa are being commemorated.

Naile Hoxha, a prominent folk singer known for her spiritual contribution to Albanian traditional music, passed away on August 29, 2016. She is remembered for her significant impact on the musical traditions of Shkodër and the wider Albanian community.

Anton Çefa, a writer, poet, and scholar, is recognized for his lifelong service to the Albanian language and national memory. Born in Shkodër in 1934, Çefa studied at the University of Tirana and served as a teacher and the director of Radio Shkodra following the fall of communism. After emigrating to the United States in 1993, he continued his intellectual work as an editor for the newspaper Dielli, published by the Pan-Albanian Federation of America, Vatra.
