Sho Nakata discusses Chunichi Dragons players Okabayashi and Ishikawa

Nakata expressed concern for Yuki Okabayashi, who led the league in hits last season but is currently struggling with a .228 batting average. After a strong June, Okabayashi saw his average drop to .174 in July and has recently faced consecutive bench starts. Nakata noted that Okabayashi likely feels significant frustration given his history of consistent playing time and expressed concern regarding both his physical condition and mental state.

Regarding Koya Ishikawa, Nakata highlighted the player's potential and emphasized the need for him to secure a regular starting position this season. Ishikawa, in his seventh professional year, has recorded 7 home runs and 34 RBIs in 69 games with a .257 batting average. Nakata encouraged Ishikawa to improve his slugging percentage to meet fan expectations.
