Shoalhaven Council plans high-rise development for Nowra gateway

Shoalhaven Council is preparing to call for expressions of interest to develop the ‘Nowra gateway’ site, located between Bridge Road and the Princes Highway near the council offices and Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.

The proposed development is expected to be a multi-storey building, potentially a motel or serviced apartments, reaching heights of 14 to 17 storeys and up to 53.5 metres. Shoalhaven deputy mayor Peter Wilkins stated that the project is expected to proceed and anticipates a significant response from developers once formal requests are issued.

The site has a history of previous development attempts, including a 2007-08 proposal for a nine-storey hotel that was eventually suspended by the council.
