Shogakukan to release second issue of literary magazine GOAT meets
Shogakukan will release the second issue of its literary magazine, ‘GOAT meets 02’, on September 8, 2026. Following the success of the ‘GOAT’ series, which has surpassed 600,000 copies in total sales, this new label focuses on the theme ‘Here & There’ (Koko to Yoso).
The publication features a diverse range of contributors, including novelists Satoru Ogawa and Park Sol-me, film director Sho Miyake, and playwright Emi Oishi. The magazine also includes an interview with actress Non, who appears on the cover.
A major feature of this issue is the ‘Today I am, in Okinawa’ project, which includes contributions from Hitomi Kanehara, Mariko Asabuki, and Lee Ran, alongside others such as Yoko Yamanaka and Shoko Soji. The issue also explores the current state of literary criticism through a dialogue between Kaho Miyake and Shizuka Omori, and includes new works by Haruka Tono.
In collaboration with the Independent Bookstore Network, the magazine will include a special tabloid featuring book selections from 33 different independent bookstores across Japan.
