Shohei Ohtani completes bullpen session as Dodgers eye September return

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani has completed a successful 34-pitch bullpen session, marking a significant step in his recovery from a left knee injury and right biceps discomfort. The session, which utilized his full pitch mix, has the organization optimistic about a potential return to the mound in September. The team plans to progress him through additional bullpen sessions and live batting practice before he returns to major league game action. Ohtani is expected to continue his role as a designated hitter while building innings directly with the big league club rather than through a minor league rehab assignment.

Additionally, the Dodgers have placed pitcher Justin Wrobleski on the 15-day injured list due to left forearm inflammation. In response, the team has recalled Kyle Hurt from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Catcher Will Smith is also showing signs of improvement following a neck injury, having remained pain-free for ten days and participating in recent batting and bullpen drills.
