Shohei Ohtani tops fan voting for 2026 MLB All-Star Game

Shohei Ohtani received the most fan votes for the 2026 Major League Baseball All‑Star Game, earning the National League’s designated‑hitter spot. The All‑Star festivities will be held on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, part of the United States’ 250th‑anniversary celebrations. The Los Angeles Dodgers have four starters – Ohtani, first‑baseman Freddie Freeman, third‑baseman Max Muncy and center‑fielder Andy Pages – the most of any NL team. The Philadelphia Phillies will be represented by five players: outfielder Brandon Marsh, first‑baseman Bryce Harper, designated‑hitter Kyle Schwarber, left‑hander Cristopher Sánchez and reliever Jhoan Duran. Atlanta’s Braves also field five All‑Stars. In the American League, Toronto’s Ernie Clement topped the first‑phase voting with 3.23 million votes, followed by veteran sluggers Yordan Álvarez and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Ohtani is unlikely to pitch in the game because of a recent schedule adjustment, but he is expected to bat. The final rosters include a mix of seasoned stars and first‑time selections, with 26 first‑time All‑Stars among the 64 players named.
