Shohei Ohtani outfield move proposal could benefit Dodgers prospect Josue De Paula

Media analysis suggests a potential strategic shift for Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani that could integrate young prospect Josue De Paula into the starting lineup. While Ohtani has expressed intent to continue his two-way role through 2027, some analysts propose that moving him to left field on days he does not pitch could free up the designated hitter spot.

This adjustment would allow De Paula, who demonstrated significant potential during a late-season call-up, to receive more consistent playing time. De Paula posted a .323 batting average and a 1.081 OPS in 11 Major League games. However, his defensive skills are still developing, and the team currently prefers him as a designated hitter.

Despite the proposal, Dodgers management has remained cautious. Manager Dave Roberts has stated there are no current plans to move Ohtani to the outfield, and President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman has confirmed Ohtani will continue his two-way approach next season. The move remains a long-term theoretical possibility to balance the roster and maximize the team's offensive depth.
