Shohei Ohtani placed on Dodgers injured list

The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed star player Shohei Ohtani on the 15-day injured list due to persistent issues with his left knee and right biceps. Manager Dave Roberts stated the decision was made to allow Ohtani extended rest in hopes of a recovery in time for the postseason. Ohtani has missed six of the last seven games, and medical staff indicated uncertainty regarding his immediate physical condition.

To fill the vacancy on the roster, the Dodgers have promoted top prospect Josué de Paula from Double-A Tulsa. De Paula, a 22-year-old Dominican player, is expected to join the team in Miami.

Concerns have been raised regarding the timing of the decision, with some analysts questioning whether the team missed an earlier opportunity to rest Ohtani. Additionally, teammate Freddie Freeman is also dealing with right knee pain, leading to media speculation about whether the team's management of his injury will follow a similar pattern to Ohtani's.
