Shohei Ohtani sidelined by knee irritation as Dodgers take precaution
Los Angeles Dodgers placed two‑way star Shohei Ohtani on the bench after he reported persistent soreness in his left knee and discomfort in his right biceps. The team described the move as a precautionary measure, emphasizing that no serious structural injury has been confirmed. Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani communicated the symptoms to the training staff, allowing the club to evaluate his condition and avoid further aggravation. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman added that the organization will monitor his recovery and will not rush his return to the mound. Ohtani, who also serves as designated hitter, has been dealing with the knee issue since early June and missed his last pitching start on July 3, but remains available as a hitter.
