Shohei Ohtani signed cleats sell for record $440,055

A pair of baseball cleats used by Shohei Ohtani sold for $440,055 (approximately 70 million yen) at a public auction hosted by the memorabilia company The Realest. The cleats were worn during the Tokyo Dome opening series against the Chicago Cubs in March 2025.

The shoes feature Ohtani’s signature in Kanji and the inscription “GU Opening Day Tokyo Series.” This sale sets a new record for the highest price ever paid for a pair of signed cleats used during a game, surpassing the previous record held by Michael Jordan’s cleats from his time in the minor leagues, which sold for approximately 15 million yen.
