Shohei Ohtani sidelined by knee soreness as Dodgers rest him FAST-MOVING

Shohei Ohtani was left out of the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup for the Thursday night series finale against the Seattle Mariners because of lingering soreness in his left knee. Manager Dave Roberts said the decision came after Ohtani communicated the discomfort to the training staff.

The two‑way star also deals with a right biceps issue and has not pitched since July 3. He received a lubricating Orthovisc injection during the All‑Star break, and an MRI showed no structural damage. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said the knee is improving and the team expects Ohtani to return to pitching later in the season, but they are not rushing his comeback.

Despite the rest, Ohtani continues to serve as the designated hitter, posting a .289 average with 23 home runs and 65 RBIs. The club is monitoring his progress and keeping options open for his workload.
