Shooting at hockey match in Paraná forces club closure
A women's hockey match at the El Plumín site of Club Atlético Estudiantes in Paraná was abruptly interrupted by a shooting. Witnesses reported between 15 and 20 gunshots in the vicinity, forcing players, coaches, and spectators to take cover on the ground to protect themselves. No injuries were reported.
Police operations following the incident led to the arrest of three men, aged 18, 22, and 23. Authorities seized a homemade weapon and a revolver during the procedure. Club Atlético Estudiantes has suspended all sporting and social activities at the El Plumín facility until further notice.
The Paraná Rowing Club issued a statement repudiating the violence and demanding concrete measures from authorities, noting that such insecurity threatens the safety of athletes, staff, and families. Club president Emilio Fouces criticized the lack of immediate police response, stating that crime had effectively forced the closure of the club.
