Shooting at Odessa recruitment centre as Russian missile strikes hit Kyiv

A gunman opened fire inside a recruitment centre in Odessa, reportedly killing himself after the attack. The incident occurred amid a wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine.

In the capital Kyiv, Russian ballistic missiles hit residential and commercial areas, killing at least nine people, including two teenagers, and wounding 23 others. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said several multi‑storey buildings were damaged, cars set ablaze and many residents were forced to shelter in subway stations and other protected locations. Ukraine’s air‑defence forces are reported to be low on Patriot missiles, complicating the response to the intensified attacks that also affected Lviv and briefly entered Polish airspace.
