Shooting incidents reported in Peru and Spain
In Huancayo, Peru, a bullet struck a fourth-floor window at the Hospital Daniel Alcides Carrión in the traumatology and orthopedics hospitalization area. The incident, which occurred around 12:25 p.m. on Monday, August 24, has raised significant safety concerns among patients, families, and staff. Hospital director Fredy Muñoz Torres noted that a similar incident occurred last year, though the origin of that projectile could not be determined at the time. Police have launched an investigation into this latest occurrence. The event has also brought scrutiny to a nearby shooting range that reportedly lacks the required license from SUCAMEC. The hospital is preparing a report to request an intervention by the regulatory body to verify the facility's compliance with safety norms.
In Balerma, Spain, a shooting incident during a suspected brawl left a man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his leg. Following the discharge of firearms near El Palmeral Park, local police and the Guardia Civil launched a search operation. A 20-year-old man was apprehended in the early hours of the morning on the Balerma promenade after attempting to flee from police officers.
