Three senior staff of the Posta Shqiptare branch in Durrës were taken into custody as part of a police operation codenamed “Filiali”. The detained officials – branch director E. M., finance chief V. D., and accountant P. D. – are accused of diverting 69 million lek that had been earmarked for the distribution of pensions and social assistance to the Shijak and Krujë districts. The operation was carried out by the Directorate for Economic and Financial Crime Investigation of the Albanian Criminal Police, in cooperation with the local Durrës police directorate and the Durrës prosecutor’s office. The suspects face charges of abuse of duty and embezzlement, and investigators continue to identify any additional persons who may have been involved.

The arrests were announced by the State Police, which noted that the misappropriation took place during April and May 2026. Material evidence has been seized, and the case has been referred to the prosecutorial authority for further legal action.
